Three BOMLA seniors were awarded full scholarships to Texas Christian University (TCU), valued at $260,000 per student. The awards include one year of study abroad.  Absu Girma, Francisco Ortiz, and Jonathan Suarez made history as the first students from the Barack Obama Male Leadership Academy to win the TCU Community Scholar awards.

TCU Community Scholar Francisco Ortiz said, “I was kind of surprised when they came. I had been constantly watching twitter, however once I was selected as a recipient, I was amazed and the first thing I did was call my parents. I am beyond grateful for such an opportunity as this.”
