BOMLA Founding Principal Nakia Douglas will serve as the Executive Director of the TRIO and Precollegiate Programs at the University of North Texas – Dallas. According to the school’s web site, the program encourages, “lower income and potential first-generation college students to complete secondary school, enroll in postsecondary education and publicize the availability of – as well as facilitate the application for – student financial assistance for persons who seek to pursue postsecondary education or complete these programs.”

As a former participant of the Upward Bound program, the new role has special significance to Douglas. He will remain an active member of the board for FRIENDS of Barack Obama Male Leadership Academy which ensures the campus receives critical resources to enhance student and teacher success.

“Mr. Douglas is rising to new heights again, because he’s a spectacular leader and educator,” said Sophia Johnson, FRIENDS of BOMLA Board Chair.“ He’ll remain on the FRIENDS of Obama Academy board which is great. It’s a win-win because his role in higher education is going to touch so many more kids from our community. We’re elated for him and us.”
