After founding and leading ” The” Barack Obama Male Leadership Academy (BOMLA) since 2011, Nakia Douglas has been promoted by Dallas ISD.  In June, Mr. Douglas began his new role as Executive Director of the South Oak Cliff Feeder Pattern, which includes BOMLA. Nakia Douglas made great strides to grow and build the unique culture and campus at Barack Obama Academy. He earned the title of DISD’s Principal of the Year 2015 for Magnet Schools and Special Programs as well as the 2016 SMU Luminary Award for his dedication and holistic development of BOMLA.

By “building better sons, better husbands, and better fathers”, Principal Douglas has made BOMLA a learning environment for all to believe, achieve, and succeed. A school that produces leaders in society, 100 percent graduation rates, and exceptional STAAR exams surpassing both district and state averages. All of this was accomplished under the leadership of Nakia Douglas.
